Wow this place is incredible! A hidden gem for sure! We checked this out on a weekday afternoon and the atmosphere was quiet and cozy. Staff is very attentive and thorough, they take very good care of you here. I was blown away by the level of effort and care put into our food, and how high quality and generously portioned everything was. The sashimi was very fresh, tofu was a large portion with lots of extra garnishings and yummy additions to go with it. My butterfish was so far the best butterfish I have had on the island. I would say that Rokkaku is one of the few places you can trust that ordering literally any menu item is guaranteed to be oishi. Also really appreciate how our waitress went above and beyond to be sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Absolutely love this place and can't wait to try more dishes from here

Ok... this place is NOT going to be Tamafuji but.... It seriously was not bad at all. Their service was friendly and quick. The portions were good for price of $30-35 per person with quality pork, rice and you can also refill that wonderful sliced cabbage salad and rice. Their katsus were not greasy at all. There is NO CRAZY WAIT and located right outside of the mall next to Victorias Secrets. They have a really good frozen yogurt that Taste like they made it at the restaurant for desert. It's a quiet restaurant and it seems like it's heavy on the Asian tourist customer vs local customer maybe because everyone's waiting 2 hours walk in or a full year and a half to make an online RESERVATION at the other place

I love this place, it always hits the spot. The Berkshire Filet Cutlet is to die for and the sashimi compliments the meal so well. The service reminds me of being in Japan and so does the ambiance! I'm a lover of all things Japan so you know this place is at the top of my go to spots when shopping at Ala Moana. The yuzu sherbet is made to perfection! Oh, the miso soup is oh so delicious too!

Staff is friendly and service is great. The best tempura and tonkatsu yet. From the decorative floating lamps and clean restaurant, everything here has a fresh ambiance.

Classy place - nice ambiance, good service and delightful food. Dined here during the time I had visited my Dad in mid January 2025. The last time that I had some legit tonkatsu was at Tamafuji during Aug. 2024, but that place is impossible to get a reservation, so you just have to show up when they open at 4 or 5pm, wait around for a spot and chance it. This spot is open all afternoon. My Dad told me about Rokkaku Hamakatsu for a while and said their tonkatsu is pretty similar to Tamafuji and I agree it's very close - but not quite at the same level. Rokkaku's tonkatsu doesn't come in different sizes and although it looks like a decent size when it's first served to you, upon closer inspection, it's a bit smaller and thinner. Still, their tonkatsu is juicy and tender - definitely, they're using some high quality Berkshire pork, here. Similar to Tamafuji, you grind your own sesame seeds. Unlike Tamafuji, though, you do have to pay extra here for rice and miso soup, and there are no pickled veggies / ume / gobo served on the side. All things considered, I could see how Tamafuji is better in terms of the overall value and quality of the food. However, if you're not wanting to wait around for who knows how long at Tamafuji and want a classier place to dine at and one that's more conveniently located with much more parking, then Rokkaku Hamakatsu is a better choice. I'd for sure return to dine at this spot. It all depends what you want, are willing to put up with, and wait for.

Went here for lunch with a few colleagues. The ambiance is nice, relatively quiet. Service is good and prompt. The food options were good, something for most everyone without being a very large menu. I opted for the mix tonkatsu, which included pork loin cutlet, pork fillet cutlet, Holland cutlet, and fried shrimp. I love variety so enjoyed this. Holland cutlet is pork with cheese in the middle. It was ok but cheese is not necessary if the pork is good (and it is good). The katsu was perfectly fried and accompanied with miso soup, rice, cabbage salad, and some pickled vegetables. I'd recommend this restaurant but make reservations. They are pretty busy. It is a good option if you can't get into Tamafuji. And the location is good if you want to walk around/shop afterwards.

Hidden in plain site, mall exterior only next to Victoria Secret. So sophisticated with incredible service. Not being very hungry I selected the shrimp and Berkshire Pork Cutlet Filet. The set and extra $3, got you rice, missing soup and a very small bowl of pickles. As beautiful as it was the amount of breading was too much for my liking.

I had been here years ago and since I don't go to Ala Moana Center, I have forgotten about it. The ambiance is elegant and clean. The food is always delicious. The service is excellent. We had some lunch menu items but of course the katsu is always delicious. This time the shrimp tempura held a bit too much oil so when I bit into it, I actually could taste the oil which wasn't so pleasant. The katsu in itself was delicate and delicious. Desserts are not too sweet which are delicious! Always enjoy delicious and clean Japanese food

Nice quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of the mall especially when you're tired from after Xmas shopping. A lovely alternative to the food court dining at the mall. You can step inside and feel like you're in Japan for a meal. Lunch and dinner menu is the same which means lunch is a little on the pricier side. My friend and I both got noodles with 2 hand rolls (choice of salmon, hamachi, tuna, or unagi) set for $26. She chose hot udon and I chose hot soba. The temaki were delicious with generous portions of hamachi. Our meals came with a simple but delicious green salad topped with tiny crunchy balls and a dressing that made it perfect! We were quite full at the end and my friend only ate half her noodles. We got to chatting with our neighbor who got a tonkatsu (apparently what they're known for) and salmon combination. Her daughter got a nabeyakiudon that came with tempura which I was eyeing on the menu. Besides the food, she likes coming here for the clean bathroom that has a working Toto toilet! Will be back for both! (My only complaint was I think the food had a lot of MSG. I should have not had so much of the soup broth.) Was gonna give 5 stars for food and facilities but took one off because the msg made me feel thirsty and dehydrated.

I had a great meal at Rokkaku Hamakatsu in Ala Moana! The food was excellent, and the overall experience was very enjoyable. I ordered the sashimi and the butterfish, and both were good. The sashimi was fresh, and the butterfish was moist, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Parking was a breeze, especially since I went on a weeknight. I can't wait to come back and try more from their menu!
